Indonesia recognised as compliant with EITI transparency standard

Clare Short: Indonesia shows that also a country with a large natural resource sector can be transparent. Wednesday, 15 October 2014 – Indonesia was today accepted as a full member of the EITI. As ‘compliant’ with the global EITI transparency standard, citizens of Indonesia have access to extensive information about how their natural resources are governed. Industry, government and civil society in the country are working together to inform the debate about the management of its oil, gas and mineral resources. Indonesia submitted its Validation Report to the EITI Validation Committee

Indonesia have submitted its final Validation Report, accompanied by response and explanation documentation, to the EITI Validation Committe for considerations. Based on this Report, and the accompanying documentation, the committe will deliberate and make decision on whether Indonesia have managed to merit the “EITI Compliant Country” status. The Validation Report is an assessment of the implementation of EITI in Indonesia, as part of an effort to fulfill 18 requirements of the 2011 EITI Rules and Regulations. Indonesia’s First EITI Report Provides a Look inside the Black Box

Jakarta, 8 May 2013 – The First Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Report by Indonesia, which compares revenues reported to have been paid to the government by nearly all oil, gas, mineral and coal companies operating in the country with those received by the government, shows that in 2009, after certain deductions, the government collected US$24.2 billion.   Read More »
